The ‘Laboratoire d’Informatique de Grenoble’ organizes the first French Brazilian spring school on Big Data and Smart Cities. This school is born from a collaboration between the Université Grenoble Alpes and the ‘Instituto Federeal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia Rio Grande do Norte’.

The concept of Smart Cities is to use digital technologies in order to offer better public services for citizens, better use of resources and less impact on the environment. Several issues are raised, like the choice of data to collect, their interconnection, their processing.

This spring school aims to bring together French and Brazilian specialists working on ‘smart cities’ and related topics such as internet of things, big data and cloud computing in order to address the challenges they share.
