The 6 UGA research departments are:

• Mathematics, Sciences and Technologies of Information and Communication

  740 faculty members and researchers and 500 PhD students

  Strategic research areas:

  • Mathematics: from basic research to applications; 
  • Data sciences;
  • Perception, interaction and usages;
  • Cyber-physical systems.

These areas are build-up on the Labex PERSYVAl-lab, AMIES, MINOS, GANEX and the instituts Carnot LSI, ICI and LETI. A new building, PILSI, gathering 1000 researchers, conceived as an Innovation Park, supports this department.

• Chemistry, Biology, Health

  730 faculty members and researchers and 410 PhD students

  Strategic research areas: 

  • Bio-motivated and bio-inspired chemical systems;
  • Structural and cellular biology;
  • Chronicle diseases and cancer;
  • Neurosciences;
  • Medical technologies.

The following Labex are at the heart of these areas: GRAL, CAMI and ARCANE.

• Physics of Particles, Astrophysics, Geosciences, Environment and Ecology

  496 faculty members and researchers and 400 PhD students

  The laboratories of this department are involved in national and international strategic research programs concerning, for instance, climate change, exploring the earth and the universe, and understanding the matter/anti-matter asymmetry. Besides these, they collaborate to investigate complex natural systems and their inteactions.

  These areas are build-up on the Labex OSUG@2020, FOCUS and ENIGMAS.

• Physics, Engineering, Materials 

  971 faculty members and researchers and 1200 PhD. Students

  Strategic research areas:

  • Carbon-low energy;
  • Nanoscience, nanotechnologies and Microsystems;
  • Eco-efficient processes and materials;
  • Multi-scale approaches and models;
  • Instrumentation.

These areas are build-up on the following Labex and instituts Carnot: CEMAM, LANEF, TEC XXI and iC EF.
